Summary: Mr Waffles is an adorable little 13 yr old Jack Russell Terrier finding himself in Oldies Care due to the health of his previous owner. He would like his humans to be around for most of the time as he will love you so much, and doesn’t like being left on his own. He could live alongside other suitable dogs and older sensible children and just needs a lovely warm sofa on which to spend his twilight years. He is in an Oldies Club foster home in Rhyl, Denbighshire, North Wales.
Settled in well: Waffles took about 2 weeks to settle into his foster home.

Can live with other dogs: Waffles is currently living happily in foster alongside four other dogs and, with gentle introductions, could do the same in his forever home. While he enjoys canine company at home, he can be reactive to unfamiliar dogs when out on walks and may become stressed or anxious when meeting dogs while out and about.
No cats please: Waffles isn’t currently living with cats and chases them when outside the home, so probably best he goes to a cat free home.

Good with Children: Little Waffles is good with children, but as he is an older chap, it is felt that children over 8yrs of age would be best.
Doesn’t like being left: Waffles loves his people so much that he would rather you be around most of the time. When left (currently maximum time is 2hrs) he can whine and howl, but is not destructive. A home where his humans go out to work would not suit Waffles.

Likes little walks: Short walks are all that Waffles needs. He isn’t keen on meeting dogs outside, so a forever home where he can be walked without having to mix with other doggies would make Waffles happy. He tires easily and when he has had enough his fosterer puts him in their buggy. At present he is going for 2 very short walks a day, where he can have a little sniff. A little garden would be perfect for Waffles.

Can travel in the car: Waffles tolerates the car. He does whine a little, but is generally fine, unless you get out and leave him alone, which he doesn’t like.
Doesn’t like stairs: Waffles would like to live either in a bungalow or in a house where any stairs are gated as he will leap like Superman from the top step. He’s a very good boy and will let you know when he wants to go out to relieve himself.

Favourite pastimes: As you’ve guessed by now, Waffles’ favourite things are his humans ! He will follow you around, just so that he knows you are still there. He is not that interested in toys and games and is happy just being by your side.
Health Issues: Waffles has a grade 4 heart murmur for which he is taking medication. This will need to be continued by his new owners. He is neutered and microchipped. He is not currently vaccinated, upon the advice of his vet due to his heart condition and age. He was suffering from itchy skin when he arrived into foster, but now he is on a raw food diet this has solved the problem.
Anything that frightens Waffles: Meeting other dogs out on walks are not great for Waffles, nor is being left on his own.
Fosters summary of Waffles: Wants to be with you – Loves his food and treats – Very short walks

If you would like to offer Waffles a permanent home, please read our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact the Oldies Club rehoming team as follows:

Waffles can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to his foster home the better – subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect him.
If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
