Bear (Starfish Dog Rescue, Gloucestershire)

Handsome Bear arrived with Moss after also spending his life as a working gun dog. His reason for “retirement”? He had a habit of taking birds from the other dogs’ mouths — and that, somehow, earned him his freedom. He’s waiting patiently to enjoy the comforts of life in his forever home with the help of Starfish Dog Rescue in Gloucestershire.

Bear is a 7 year old Springer Spaniel and is currently being fostered in an adult home in Gloucestershire and living with other dogs. Now this stunning boy finds himself in a very different world, one filled with soft beds, kind voices and regular meals. Understandably, it’s all a little overwhelming at first; for a dog who’s only known one way of living, the comforts of home are as confusing as they are comforting.

Bear is another gentle, sweet-natured soul without an ounce of malice. He’s taking his new life all in slowly, watching, learning and cautiously beginning to realise that this new chapter might just be the one where life begins.

Bear has already been seen by the vet, where it was found that his ears were in an awful state, severely infected and clearly painful. He’s now on a strong course of medication, and it’s hoped that soon with time and care, he’ll be feeling much more comfortable. Bear will be neutered, vaccinated and given a full health check before leaving care.

It’s still very early days for Bear and there’s a lot for him to adjust to, but he will be getting all the time, patience and love he needs in care with more updates as his journey unfolds. Please watch his videos here.
