‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME.

Lottie (10 years) and Libby (nearly 7 years) are two beautiful Whippet cross girls, searching for an extra special home together through Evesham Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue. They are in a foster home in the Worcestershire area with other dogs and, Lottie in particular, can’t wait to have a retirement home where they’re the only dogs. These two are completely devoted to one another and cannot be separated but they are so lovely, they’re no more effort than having just one dog. Plus, twice the love for you!

Lottie is 18 inches tall and weighs 10kg. Libby is 21 inches tall and weighs 13kg. They are both clean in the house, non-destructive, generally quiet and can happily be left for up to 4 hours with each other for company. They could live with children from age 14 but no other pets, at least for now.

Lottie – The Brave, Special Girl
Lottie is the older sweetheart who has sadly had a difficult past. She suffered untreated injuries before coming into rescue, leaving her with internal deformities that affect her liver function, as well as old leg fractures that healed but resulted in an unusual gait. Because of her liver condition and internal complications, Lottie’s lifespan is sadly uncertain. The rescue are therefore looking for a palliative, loving retirement home where she can be cherished for however long she has and have offered to cover her medical expenses for ongoing pain relief.

Despite everything she has been through, Lottie absolutely loves life! She enjoys a walk twice daily for around 10–15 minutes. She really loves going to a secure field where she can have a good zoomies with Libby, She can still run incredibly fast! She’s always first in line to have her lead put on. She doesn’t like meeting unknown dog when on lead, understandable in her condition, so she needs walking in quieter areas and needs a home without other pets. It’s a concern that her reactivity could cause her to overdo things physically, so calm walks where she won’t meet other dogs are important. She is worth the extra care as she’s such an affectionate and cuddly dog.

Libby – The Loyal, Loving Explorer
Libby is almost Lottie’s opposite in personality apart from being very affectionate. She’s a would-be lap dog! Libby is a big fan of long walks – her favourite part of the day, ideally at least two 40-minute walks daily (longer at weekends if possible). She travels well, though can get a little stressed and eager to get out of the car. She is excellent on the lead and loves being out and about, exploring the world.

While Lottie can be a little grumpy with other dogs, Libby happily lives alongside them. However, for now, their rescue are seeking a home without other dogs to ensure harmony and to prioritise Lottie’s comfort. In the future, Libby could potentially live with another calm dog.
Their Ideal Home: a peaceful environment with no other resident dogs at this time, owners understanding of Lottie’s medical needs, access to quieter walking areas, a secure field or safe space to visit for off-lead fun would be a huge bonus, mostly they just need love and safety. Taking on a dog with a shortened life expectancy is a heroic thing to do. Seeing these two sweet girls settled, comfy and knowing they’re loved will be hugely rewarding.

If you have room in your heart and home for two devoted, loving girls, you won’t just be adopting dogs – you’ll be giving a precious gift of comfort, dignity, and love. For more information, please contact Evesham Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue as follows:
