Meet Rusty and Sparky ! – what a pair of absolute sweethearts that we just know are going to melt the hearts of everyone. Arriving at Oldies Club as their owner had sadly passed away, they are currently in foster care in Hampshire, not far from Newbury, Berkshire waiting for their next chapter in life to begin.
Summary: Sparky (Maltese x Pomeranian) is about 12/14yrs old and his “brother” Rusty (Cavalier x Bichon) a little younger at 8/9 yrs and are inseparable. Their last owner took Sparky in at 1 year old and had Rusty from a puppy. They have had a lot of upheaval of late and would like a calm and peaceful forever home where they can concentrate on snoozing and being throughly spoilt.
Settled well into foster: Rusty and Sparky settled well into foster considering the upheaval of the past few months. After a couple of weeks they relaxed and started to feel at home.
Can be left: With each other for company they are happy to be left for a couple of hours on their own, but any longer would not be great for them as they adore human company. They would not like to live with people that go to work and would leave them regularly on their own.
Good with other dogs: They mix well with other dogs out and about, sometimes barking, but not aggressively, and get on well in their current foster home with the resident dog. Therefore, they could possibly live with other dogs of similar temperament and energy.
Not cat tested: Whilst in their foster home they have not had a chance to meet any cats so it’s unsure how they would behave.
Could live with older children: Sparky and Rusty deserve a quiet and restful retirement home and for this reason it’s felt they should not live alongside youngsters. They could however possibly live with children aged 10+ that are respectful of their years and their needs. This sweet pair would be happiest with someone around for much of the day to share in their favourite pastimes of relaxing, snoozing, and soaking up affection.
Good on the lead: They love their little walks and are well behaved on the lead. They have not been let off the lead in their foster home, so their recall is unknown. Currently getting 2 x 30min walks a day, they would like their own little garden where they can sniff and explore in between.
Good in the car: Both Sparky and Rusty travel well. They have their seat belts on and are great back seat drivers ! They are not used to a crate so its hoped their new owners can continue with this as it makes car travel a dream.
Favourite things: Did we mention snoozing ! …..apart from that, Rusty loves lying in the garden at dusk with the bats swooping around him and Sparky adores sniffing in the garden. After their time in nature, they both adore nothing more than snuggling up on the sofa next to their favourite people for cuddles.
Sleep in their beds: Sparky and Rusty sleep downstairs together in their beds. Liking the light on in the next room too as it makes them feel relaxed and has a lovely calming affect. Rusty is up at 6ish and likes to be let out in the garden to relieve himself and whilst Sparky had a few little accidents when he first arrived, these are getting fewer by the day.
Dislikes: Both dogs do not like loud noises, which frighten them. They can be a little barky, especially in the evening if they hear noises outside or next doors. Sparky isn’t a fan of being picked up and you need to do so with care. If Rocky sees that his Bruv Sparky isn’t happy, then this upsets him too !
Health Issues: Neither dog currently have any health problems – they are vaccinated, neutered, wormed and de flead. Sparky has no teeth anymore so likes soft food and treats.
Rusty and Sparky have clearly endeared themselves to their foster carers and are the most adorable pair. Yes, they are older and not looking for their next big adventure, but they are the most loving boys that will repay you with so much love and affection. They have been through so much change and now just need a calm and peaceful home in which to snooze and be well and truly pampered.
