  • A Wombling Merry Christmas from the Oldies Club

Meet Womble. Gorgeous Womble sadly found himself in an overcrowded council pound this December. More and more dogs were coming in so Womble was at risk – unwanted dogs that cannot be moved out to rescues may be put to sleep once they have ‘done their time’ and nobody has claimed them. Womble’s owner had actually been in contact with the pound but is himself sadly homeless and so was unable to claim him. Thankfully, a very kind fosterer came forward to foster Womble for the Oldies Club, and today, 23rd December, Womble has moved from kennels to a warm foster […]

It was lovely to see so many of our rehomed Oldies Club dogs now enjoying life with their new families. These dogs included Joe, Jess, […]

  • What about a middle aged oldie? 7-8 year olds overlooked…

People who visit Oldies Club stalls at events are often surprised when they see 7 or 8 year old dogs promoted by the Oldies Club. After all, 8 isn’t that old for most breeds of dog. It’s often more a case of ‘middle aged’ than ‘old’ dog. The answer that at that age, dogs are already being overlooked in favour of younger animals. A 7 year old dog is already likely to be overlooked in favour of the 4 year old in the next kennel. Even though the 7 or 8 year old may well go on enjoying life for another […]
