  • Taking on Ben Nevis for Oldies Club

      Ben Nevis is the highest mountain in the British Isles. The thought of climbing such a mountain would make most people baulk. For Laura and her friends they see it as a challenge and a wonderful way to help raise much needed funds for charity. On the 11th September 2010 Laura along with Totts, her 2 yr old JRT cross, will be taking up the challenge in order to raise money for Oldies Club and also Chest, Heart and Stroke Scotland. The 3.5 mile (5.6km) walk follows a coastal route along the cliffs with magnificent sea views.   • Spiralling Vet Bills – Oldies Club Needs Your Help

    Oldies Club currently has 14 sponsor dogs in care, the most we’ve ever had at any one time. As a result our vets bills are hitting the roof and we are unable to help other dogs that are waiting to come into our care. Please can you help us raise much needed funds so that we can continue to take in and rehome older dogs?

  • Haslemere & District DTC Sponsored Walk for Oldies

    At their Annual General Meeting in October 2009 Haslemere & District Dog Training Club  nominated Oldies Club as their Charity of the Year. On 28th March 2010 they organised a sponsored walk to raise funds for Oldies Club. The plan was to meet at Frensham at 10am and then take part in a six mile walk. The event was well attended by many members of the training club and a number of fosterers and supporters for Oldies Club.     Oldies Club supporter Ray is completing a sixty mile walk along Jersey’s coastal path, to raise funds for Oldies Club, a UK dog rescue charity. Ray and his friend Dennis are setting off on the walk on 15 April 2010 and expect to be walking for four days. They are looking for people to sponsor them – you can either sponsor an amount per mile or a set total amount.     On the 12th March 2010 (Hound & Terriers day) Oldies Club were invited to Crufts to share the Pet.net stand, by Marc Abraham who is the Oldies Club patron. Oldies Club is a small charity without much public profile so it was decided that Crufts would be a valuable opportunity for fundraising and awareness raising. As a rescue that only deals with old dogs, by attending we could help to raise the profile of old dogs in rescues, and talk to the dog owning public about the issues specific to older dog ownership.     Oldies Club is celebrating older dogs! We are holding a fundraising photo competition for the second year running especially for dogs age 7 and over. The winning dog will represent the Oldies Club for the following year. The only rule for this competition is that dogs entering need to be veterans, they do not necessarily need to be rescue dogs to enter. We have divided the UK up into 7 regions (North East, North West, South East, South West, Midlands, Scotland and Wales. The winner of each region will go forward to the Grand Final.     Jasper’s Sealed Bid Auction At the end of last year things were looking pretty bleak for Jasper. His owner was seriously ill and the family were unable to keep him. He was taken to a vet to be put to sleep. As Jasper was in good health, the vet was very reluctant to euthanise him.   • Jasper’s very happy New Year

    Just over a week ago, things were looking pretty bleak for Jasper, a 12 year old Collie cross. His owner was seriously ill and the family were unable to keep him. He was taken to a vet to be put to sleep the day before New Year’s eve. As Jasper was in good health, the vet was very reluctant to euthanase him – but the practice were closing for the New Year and were unable to keep him for more than another day.
