  • Oldies go walking at Westonbirt

After the success of this year’s camping trip it was decided that it would be nice to end 2008 off with another social event. On a crisp December Sunday morning a group of Oldies Club supporters and their dogs met up for a walk at Westonbirt Arboretum, Wiltshire. It was lovely to see 25+ dogs interacting. The older dogs chose to plod around the walk quite contently whilst the younger ones were enthusiastically running around and mixing happily together. After the walk we all had a chance of a quick coffee and to samples the goodies that some had brought with […]

  • Trish’s Trudge – latest update

It all started on Sunday 18th May 2008. I stood at the most northerly point in the UK, and took my first step of Trish’s Trudge which would take me the length of the country to Lands End! Now, almost 80 days later, I’ve reached the wet hills of Yorkshire and am working my way down the Pennine Way. The scenery has been fantastic, and I’ve met some real characters along the way. But the best bit has been the dogs I’ve met. I dropped in to the Dogs Trust centre at West Calderdale near Edinburgh, and met some of their […]

  • SOFA Petition for compulsory microchipping

Speak Out for Animals (S.O.F.A), a school animal action club, is campaigning for microchipping of dogs to be made law. Click here to view and sign the petition. Taken from the petition site: Recent reports state that over 100,000 strays were collected in 2007. All of these had to be cared for by local councils or charitable organisations, and too many were destroyed. If these dogs had been microchipped, the owners could easily be traced and any cruelty, punished. A dynamic school animal action club, called Speak Out for Animals (S.O.F.A) is therefore campaigning for microchipping of dogs to be made […]

  • Can you help our sponsor dogs?

We currently have a number of dogs in our care that have very little chance of finding permanent homes. Sadly, these dogs have health problems and will need regular medication and special care for whatever time they have left. Oldies Club can provide permanent foster places for these dogs, so that they will enjoy a comfortable home environment for the rest of their days. Unfortunately, caring for old and sick dogs is very costly and puts a big strain on our funds. So please help us by taking part in our Sponsor Scheme. For a small monthly or annual fee you […]
