We just couldn’t understand why no-one has enquired about Kyle the Cocker Spaniel. He’s a lovely old boy who will make someone’s home complete. Update – Kyle has now found a home!

Oldies Camping weekend 2008
The Oldies Club held another wonderful camping weekend, with oldie dogs, supporters, and younger dogs of all shapes and sizes attending. A good time was had by all, with lots of dog chat and the Mystery Event, a spur of the minute dog show (which was incredibly hard to judge!) won by our own beautiful Lovely Lady. Can you join Trish on her 1,200 mile Trudge?
Trish, a slightly crazy(?), but very lovely Oldies Club supporter has decided she is going to walk from John O’Groats to Lands End to raise funds for the Oldies Club and Dogs Trust. She is starting in mid-May and estimates from all the planning and research she’s doing, that she will be walking 1,200 miles, possibly a bit further! The walk is expected to take her around five months. Special vet bills appeal – PLEASE DONATE!
Because the Oldies Club only deals with dogs that are at least 7 years old, our vet bills are always higher than average for most dog rescues – but at the moment we are particularly struggling with bills.

Dane of Freshfields
Regular readers will probably share our affection for Dane and our strong hope that he would eventually find a suitable loving home. Sadly, poor Dane’s health is not too good and Freshfields have decided to not rehome him as they feel the stress of a move could be too much for his heart. 27/9/08 Dane has now sadly passed away

Chesterfield Birthday WISH event postponed

Clicker Fun Day – 11 May, Nettleham Village Hall, nr Lincoln
Paddy Driscoll, a dog trainer and member of the APDT, is holding a Clicker Fun Day on Sunday 11 May at Nettleham Village Hall, nr Lincoln. TTouch book being auctioned for Oldies Club
A copy of the new TTouch book, Unlock Your Dog’s Potential, from Sarah Fisher, the UK’s highest qualified TTouch Equine and Companion Animal Instructor, is being auctioned on the Refuge to raise funds for Oldies Club. You can view the auction thread here – you will need to be a member of the Refuge in order to bid on the forum, but it only takes a few minutes to sign up. Creative children needed for Oldies Club Christmas Card 2007 competition! The Oldies Club charity is looking for some help from its younger supporters! :) We have launched a competition in the hope of finding a new and unique design for this year’s Oldies Club Christmas card. The theme is “older dogs at Christmas†and we invite those aged 16 or under to submit a drawing or painting which best represents this theme for them.
