Louis (Animal Rescue Cymru, West Wales)

3/10/2017 After being seen on the Oldies Club website, it’s no surprise that lovely Louis has now gone off to his new home and has really settled in – he was sleeping on his large, comfy bed within minutes of arriving there!

Laddie (Lakeland Trailhound Welfare, fostered Cumbria)

19/11/17 – Brilliant news from Lakeland Trailhound Welfare: ‘I am delighted to tell you that Laddie Trailhound has been adopted. He now lives on a Scottish island with 2 cats. The adopter saw him on the Oldies Club website. So THANK YOU for your support and help with finding him a home.”

Emily (RSPCA Bryn y Maen Animal Centre, fostered North Wales)

13/3/17 – We are very sad to hear that lovely Emily recently became very unwell and the rescue had to say goodbye to her. She had just been offered a new home too. The RSPCA said: “We are very grateful to her fosterers who have surrounded her with love, comfort and happiness for her last few weeks. Emily was safe and very happy and we cannot ask for more than that. Run free dear Emily.” :(

Not nutty, Nutty (Oldies Club, fostered Northants)

We are so sorry to have to update with the sad news that, after a short illness, Nutty deteriorated dramatically, to the point where she had to be put to sleep to save her any suffering. Our thoughts are with Nutty’s lovely foster carer who had taken such good care of our special girl since she came into the Oldies Club rescue. Sleep tight little Nutty.

Amy (Halfway Home Dog Rescue, Notts)

22/10/2015 Amy went to the vets today to check her eye and teeth – very sadly, they said that she wouldn’t survive the operation that she needed and recommended to let her go while she was with them. So we are devastated to say that Amy has been put to sleep this morning.

Elvis, the King, not a Hound Dog (Oldies Club, fostered Somerset)

8/3/14 We are so sad to have to update with the news that Elvis’s pain from his back could no longer be controlled and he has had to be put to sleep to prevent him suffering. He had proved himself to be a very special old chap and his foster carers are so upset to have lost him. Our thoughts are with them.

Little laid-back Lucy (Oldies Club, fostered Tyne & Wear)

8/10/12 We are very sad to update with the news that little Lucy became very unwell at the weekend. She saw the emergency vet, and scans revealed that she had tumours on her kidneys, liver and windpipe. There was no hope for Lucy and the kindest thing was to let her go. Our thoughts are with Lucy’s dedicated foster carer who has cared for Lucy so very well.

Ben (Furry Friends Animal Rescue, Surrey)

25/4/12 – Sad news from Furry Friends today – ‘Sadly we had to have Ben put to sleep this morning. A home had been offered but they are on holiday at the moment. Unfortunately it just wasn’t meant to be. :(‘ Sleep tight little Ben.

Charlie and Cain (PARRT, North East)

30/4/12 – We just had the sad news that poor Cain had to be put to sleep due to health issues. His sister Charlie will be staying in long term foster and is sure to be well take care of in her sorrow.

Curly Blue – Rapunzel Rottie (Oldies Club, fostered Plymouth)

18/2/12 We are extremely sad to report that after a short period of serious illness, Blue has sadly passed away. He had tests and scans that were inconclusive but the vet was certain that Blue had a hard to detect form of cancer. This news is especially devastating as Blue had recently had a wonderful home offer and we were all looking forward to him finally going to a permanent home. Our thoughts are with his adopter-to-be and, of course, with his wonderful foster family who loved Blue so very much and would have kept him if only their garden had been easier for Blue to manage.

Sleep tight Curly Blue – we will never forget you, special boy. :(

Rambo (Blue Cross, Scotland – fostered Ayrshire)

3/9/2011 – We just had the sad news that Rambo was pts. Here is what his carer said about him:

Sadly Rambo died yesterday but he had a brilliant foster home and was a happy dog right up to the end. We’re going to miss his great character and how much he made us all laugh but I’m glad he got to spend his last months so contented.

Sleep tight, sweet boy.

Boston (RSPCA, West Norfolk)

20/1/11 – Tragically Boston had to be put to sleep this morning. He was unwell and the vet found a tumour on his kidneys. The kindest thing was to let him go. Sleep tight, Boston.

Wag (Oldies Club, fostered Hertfordshire)

18/9/10 We are very sad to report that Wag suddenly became very ill and after having tests and a scan was found to have an enlarged liver, a mass in his stomach, and a problem with one of his kidneys. The vet advised that there was no hope of improvement and as Wag was not at all well, he sadly had to be put to sleep. Rest in peace little Wag.

Alfie (Lizzie’s Barn Animal Sanctuary, South Wales)

20/6/10 – After the good news of Alfie finding a new home, we have some very sad news. Yesterday afternoon, Alfie was out pottering in the sunshine in the sanctuary garden when he suddenly collapsed and died. Fionna was with him and couldn’t do anything to save him. They suspect the poor little man had a massive heart attack.

The Sanctuary people are absolutely devastated, as are the wonderful family who were due to be homechecked for him today and hoping to bring him home next weekend.

Sleep well, little one.

Super Scamp (Oldies Club, fostered Plymouth)

3/11/09 Sadly poor Scamp has been suffering from dementia recently and has had to be put to sleep. He had a wonderful loving home, as you can see from his rehoming story here on the website. He will be greatly missed by his family. Sleep tight Scamp.

Maggie (Chilterns Dog Rescue Society, Bucks)

17/01/09 Maggie went to live with a foster family and had a wonderful few days with them, but she unfortunately became unwell. Sadly, Maggie was put to sleep yesterday with kidney failure. CDRS have sent their thanks to everyone that offered to help Maggie…

Marley (DAWG Dogs, Dorset)

17/11/2010 We’ve had the sad news from DAWG Dogs today that poor Marley had to be put to sleep. He had started having fits and showed no signs of improvement. He was lucky to have enjoyed two good years with his fosterer. Sleep tight Marley :(
