11/6/20 – Bosun has now found a new home!

Big lad Bosun is a gorgeous, 9 almost 10 year old, liver and white Springer Spaniel who has come into the care of South Yorkshire English Springer Spaniel Rescue as his owners live in a flat and he was barking when hearing other residents. In kennels, he hasn’t made a sound, although he does bark when he wants a ball throwing.

Bosun needs to lose quite a bit of weight (a good 8kg to start with) and he is very strong on a lead. He is, however, very good off the lead, loves to play with a ball and is quite active. With a good diet and exercise, the weight should start to come off. He does destroy his balls so he needs a very strong one and it needs to be removed when he isn’t playing with it.

Bosun has been good with all the other dogs and seems to enjoy walking with them. He is not used to children; out and about he will just ignore them but, in the home, he is quite nervous of them so he will be looking for an adult-only home without visiting children. He has a full pet passport as he has travelled regularly for holidays and is used to being left for 2-3 hours at a time without issue.

Bosun was a little grumpy a couple of times when he first came into rescue, but he has been absolutely fine since. However, if he is unsure when he goes to a new home, he may be again so he needs an owner who could deal with this by giving him encouragement rather than forcing him to do something he is worried about. Bosun is not at all keen on the vet and does require muzzling.
