28/2/2020 It’s so sad that lovely Luke has passed away. He became very unwell and it was discovered he had bloat. After a long conversation with the vets, it was decided that the kindest thing was to let him go; surgery was an option but it was very unlikely that he would have survived. Such a shame as he never found his forever home but he was very loved at the rescue.

Handsome Luke is a 10 year old German Shepherd who is being cared for by Alexa’s Animal Charity in North Northumberland. He is looking for a cosy, quiet retirement home where he can get all the cuddles and tummy rubs he loves and live out his retirement in peace. He will make a lovely companion and just needs someone to give him a chance.

Luke does not require excessive amounts of exercise; he prefers to potter around the paddock, so a big garden would be ideal. He is not doing well in kennels and would love to find his forever home soon. It will be a supported adoption where the new owners pay future flea, worming and vaccinations but other medical costs will be covered by the Rescue.

Luke needs to be an only dog. When he first came to into rescue, he was very reactive to other dogs and this has improved, but he really needs to be the only dog in the home. It’s not known how he is around children, so he is looking for a home with older children only.

Luke is vaccinated, neutered and had his teeth cleaned. He was on B12 injections to aid his weight gain, but these have finished and he is now just taking Loxicom for arthritis which will be permanent and covered by the Rescue.
