Sadly, gorgeous Hazel was found as a stray, presumed dumped. No-one came to claim her and after 7 days in the pound, she was taken in by South East Dog Rescue in Kent.

Hazel is a 10 year old Springer Spaniel. As can be seen from the photo below, she had a huge mass which was removed immediately. It weighed almost 1kg, so she was so happy not to have to carry that around any longer. Thankfully, it was a benign tumour and Hazel recovered quickly and easily after the surgery.

Hazel absolutely loves people and can live with sensible, dog-savvy children aged 6 years and over. She is happy to meet other dogs without any issues and could live as an only dog, or with a canine friend. Unfortunately, no cats or small furries please.

Please do not let Hazel’s age fool you. She is a pocket rocket with a lot of energy. She absolutely loves her walks and will need someone physically fit and able to work on her lead walking, as slow and steady is yet to exist in her vocabulary. It’s unlikely that she has any recall off-lead; she finds smells far too interesting and her hearing is not all it used to be.

Hazel has not shown any signs of separation anxiety whilst in kennels and appears to be house-trained. She is a perfect patient at the vets and is learning to be calm in the car. She hasn’t had much training, so her new family will need to be prepared to invest time. Older dogs can certainly learn new tricks, especially if there are treats involved.

Hazel also had a second surgery to remove some small mammary tumours and was spayed at the same time. The vets X-rayed her chest which was all clear, and now she has fully recovered from all surgeries, she is ready to find her new family. Before applying, please remember that she has a lot of energy as well as a lot of love to give. She will need mental and physical stimulation and a lot of cuddles, as well as a secure garden.
