14/10/2023: Luna has been adopted, having been spotted on Oldies Club! Hooray!

Beautiful Luna is a 10-year-old, medium-sized English Setter Cross who’s getting the hang of home comforts and a proper doggy life in a multi-dog foster home near Guildford in Surrey, through SOS Italian Setters.

She’s looking for a home with a confident, friendly, resident dog (or two or three!). She is learning a lot from the others in foster, and they help her confidence. It’s thought she’d do best in a rural or semi-rural home, as she finds traffic quite worrisome. She loves being in the garden!

Luna was kept in a very basic council pound in Italy for 10 years, from when she was 20 days old. She is still quite worried about people but is making incredible progress. She hid behind furniture for the first few days but now lies in the middle of the room and has started coming up to her foster family to say hello. Her adopters need to be experienced with nervous dogs and mustn’t rush her progress.

Luna has met a few children out and about and was good with them. She would probably be OK to live with considerate, dog-savvy children and should be fine with visiting grandchildren, under supervision. She’s untested with cats.

Luna adores her walks! She needs quite a lot of exercise as well as lots of garden time. She gets one 30 minute walk a day at the moment but would happily do more!

Luna is spayed and healthy. She travels well in the car and can be left for a few hours with her dog friends for company. The most important thing she needs is owners who are patient and practical about her lingering fears, to gradually help her heart shine more and more each day. She’s worth the wait!
