Poppy (Helping Pets, Northumberland)

Darling little Poppy is a typical Chihuahua, that is, a bit of a Princess thinking the world revolves around her ! But just look at her…what a sweetheart……..

She is currently in a foster home in Ashington, Northumberland where Helping Pets are looking for her perfect forever home. She is 12 yrs old and deserves only the best home, fit for a Princess !

Poppy is hoping to find a wonderful adult home where she is the only dog. Whilst she has lived with other small dogs before, she can be a bit bossy and prefers all of the attention. She would also like a home without cats.

She is well behaved in the house, housetrained and is happy to sleep in her bed downstairs. Although she does like to know that you are close by, she can happily be left for a few hours on her own, with some treats to keep her occupied. Poppy does need to lose some weight, particularly to look after her back legs, so her owners must be committed to managing Poppy’s food and treat intake.

Poppy loves nothing more than playing with one of her toys and all the better if you are happy to play with her. We did say she likes all the attention ! She loves to be wherever you are, and is a real girls girl, meaning any men in the home or visiting must be respectful of her space.

The diva that she is, will demand tummy rubs and lots of love and cuddles when she wants them. A little garden would be ideal where she can get some exercise to lose some of those extra pounds. At present she is used to having a couple of 10 minute walks a day, but this could increase once she gets a bit fitter and her stamina improves.

Poppy will be spayed before she leaves for her forever home and will have a dental, so she’s ready for her close up !

In summary, Poppy is an easy and delightful little lady, looking for a calm and quiet home where she can be the centre of your world and will repay you with as much love and kisses as she can give.
