‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME.

Please help Dancer by sharing this page!

Playful boy Dancer is a 9-year-old Collie Cross in the care of Last Chance Animal Rescue in Edenbridge, Kent. He wants a peaceful but active retirement with no other pets or children to discombobulate him. Potential adopters will need to meet him a few times so he can make sure he feels safe enough with you to show his silly side sometimes.

Dancer is a sensitive dog who wants to form a strong bond with his human. He can be anxious, especially about sudden noises, and it takes him a while to trust. When he does trust someone, he’s both soppy and attentive.

Last Chance Animal Rescue say, “When Dancer knows you he can be very affectionate and jump up for cuddles. Dancer loves to cuddle up to you on the sofa and gently nibble your fingers while getting belly rubs, if you stop stroking him he will paw at you for your attention… One of Dancer’s favourite things to do is watch you make dinner in the kitchen in the hope that he could have some too! He especially loves cheese.”

Dancer likes to be near his human and will want to follow you everywhere, so he needs a home where he won’t be left alone for too long. He’s an active boy who loves his long walks and exploring new places. He’ll need an active owner and a garden of his own to run around and play freely off-lead every day. He can get protective of his owner when on lead and can nip if a stranger approaches, because of this you will have to keep a distance from others and their dogs, walking in less populated areas. He loves to play ball games and when alone he enjoys playing with soft, crinkly toys. You will often see him chucking them around in the air and tossing them side to side!

Like many Collie-types, Dancer may have some nervous energy which needs an outlet in activity but once that’s sorted, he is an incredibly rewarding dog as he’s so devoted. He will seem to understand every word you say and (more importantly) believe you to be the most fascinating person ever for saying it.
