Maddie (Starfish Dog Rescue, fostered Gloucestershire)

Maddie is a 12-year-old Springer Spaniel currently being fostered in Gloucestershire in an adult family home through Starfish Dog Rescue. She has spent her life as a working gun dog, being kept in kennels and now facing euthanasia simply because there was nowhere for her to go. Thank goodness for Starfish Dog Rescue. Maddie deserves the feeling of being loved and cared for, and only the very best home will do for her.

Despite never having lived in a house before, Maddie has settled beautifully into home life. She is a typical Spaniel who simply craves love and companionship. Wherever you are, she wants to be there too, usually lying beside you and making sure she’s touching you in some way. It is as though she is making up for all those years without the comforts of family life. She is a gentle, affectionate soul who loves nothing more than being close to her people. Maddie loves her walks and behaves impeccably when out and about, taking little notice of other dogs, walking beautifully on the lead and travelling well in the car. She is a little superstar ! Here is Maddie enjoying a lovely play and walk with friends.

She can be left at home for reasonable periods, is clean in the house and sleeps happily in her crate overnight.

Since coming into rescue care, Maddie has seen the vets and received treatment for ear mites. She has also been spayed and had a scale and polish, with no teeth needing to be removed.

Her foster home have noticed that Maddie is a little hard of hearing, but this doesn’t affect her when out walking as she naturally keeps an eye on where you are. When she is resting and is startled by another dog she can give a little growl and for this reason it’s felt she would best suit a home as an only dog. However she has never bitten or shown any aggression beyond this. (Starfish Dog Rescue may consider a home with a quiet and gentle resident dog in the right circumstances)
