Kayleigh (Safe Rescue, fostered Norfolk)

Kayleigh is an 8 year old dinky Maltese cross, and is the sweetest little girl. She adores love and cuddles and sitting on your lap and is slowly getting used to living in a domestic environment, but still shows signs of her previous life.

She will not drink voluntarily and has to be shown water and told to drink out of her bowl. Similarly she will only eat her food from the floor and not her bowl. She can be anxious when she goes outside, so a little garden to build her confidence would be perfect. With patience and lots of love she will hopefully slowly learn these things, but her new humans must be prepared to take their time with her.

Kayleigh loves other dogs but could also be the only dog in the home. She would like somebody in her new family to be at home for a good part of the day, as she is not used to being left alone. Perhaps a person/couple who are semi/retired?

She could live with children over 7 yrs, who would be respectful of her age and know that she is not a toy, despite her dinky size. Kayleigh could be rehomed with respectful children over seven. She is not cat tested but the fosterer does not think that would be an issue.

Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
