‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME.

Please help Ben by sharing this page!
Ben is a medium-sized Crossbreed, believed to be about 8 years old, who’s currently in a foster home in Mattishall, Norfolk through Safe Rescue. He wants to live with at least one other dog, is fine with cats but needs an adult-only home with experienced owners.

Ben came from a shelter in Romania and has taken a few months of rehabilitation to get to the stage of being ready for adoption. He wasn’t used to being handled but with patient practice, at his own pace, he now casually seeks out a bit of fuss and attention.

He will take a while to learn to trust his new owner(s) but treats certainly help and he’ll build a strong bond with those willing to put in the time. He’s a bit overly fond of food and his weight will need to be got to grips with after he’s fully settled, feeling happy and secure.

It’s taken Ben quite a while to learn to walk on the lead and he still sometimes chews at his lead, which is why you see him below with a chain lead. He’s gradually getting there and really loves being outdoors with his pack.

It’s amazing how far Ben has come so far. As he’s relaxed and got used to his new life, his comical side has started to show. He can be stubborn when he wants but he is always fascinated by food!

Obviously, he needs owners with experience and patience but his love is well worth investing in. He is well-behaved in the home and can be left for reasonable periods with a dog friend or two for company. Ben is essentially an undemanding, steady dog who’s affections are to be treasured.

Please note – Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full details of their rehoming policy are on Ben’s Facebook album here.
