Delightful and dependable Dylan is the sweetest Lhasa Apso x Spaniel in Oldies Club care currently being fostered in Norwich, Norfolk. He is 12yrs young and an active little chap, looking for his perfect retirement home.
Summary: Dylan arrived at Oldies Club quite poorly, but with lots of love and care he is now ready to start his next chapter. He could live with or without other dogs, kind and sensible children and would like someone at home to keep him company for most of the day, as he really doesn’t like being left on his own. The last 6 months have seen Dylan transform into a different dog and he will make someone the most wonderful companion and best friend.
Settled slowly into foster care: Dylan was not in great shape when he arrived at Oldies Club and for this reason took a while to settle in. As his health improved, Dylan started to relax and become more settled.  Dylan has limited vision and so had to learn where everything was, but once he did, he was a different dog.
Does not like being left: Dylan really does not like being left on his own. He gets anxious and barks, so would like his humans around to keep him company. He would not fit into a home where he is left for extended periods or his humans go out to work.
Fine with other dogs: Dylan is generally fine with other dogs. Some have visited whilst he has been in foster and a few have stayed for longer – on the whole he tends to ignore them. Whist out walking he has become a little reactive towards some dogs, but it’s felt that he could happily live alongside another doggy chum.
Could possibly live with cats: Dylan hasn’t been seen with a cat but his fosterer feels that he should be fine living with a feline buddy.
Could live with children: Likewise Dylan hasn’t been seen interacting with children, but his fosterer feels that because of his chilled and laid back demeanour he would be fine living with sensible and calm children aged 7yrs and over.
Sleeping Arrangements: Dylan has a bed in the kitchen where he initially settles, often preferring the floor. During the night he will migrate to the bedroom where he will settle for the rest of the night until it’s time to get up. He doesn’t try to jump onto the bed.
Loves his walks: Dylan lives for his walks ! He has quite a brisk pace, but doesn’t pull on the lead. He is better with a collar as opposed to a harness and as his eyesight is limited and his hearing isn’t great either, he is never let off the lead. At the moment he is used to an extending lead which suits him fine.
His daily routine is currently a walk in the afternoon for between 30mins and 1 hour, but he could happily walk for longer !
Good in the car: He adores the car and is a good traveller on trips out. He has a harness clipped to the seat and settles well.
Favourite pastimes: It has to be his walks ! He is a very chilled little boy in the daytime, liking a snooze wherever he thinks is the best place. He likes his garden and if you are a gardener he will love to keep you company and follow you around checking up on your weeding skills !
Not frightened of anything: Nothing really fazes Dylan. He’s transformed into a well rounded and chilled out boy since being in his foster home.
Dylan’s Perfect Home : A walking buddy would be perfect for Dylan ! If you like a good daily stroll and want a loyal companion then Dylan is your boy. He does though want you there to keep him company when you get home, and if you do go out in the day, then he’d like to go with you.
Health Issues: Dylan is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Dylan has in the past had eye infections and ulcers. This has resulted in him having cloudy eyes which affects his vision. Testing revealed that he has dry eyes so he has Optimmune ointment twice a day. He is very obliging and makes no fuss at all. He has a heart murmur but is not currently needing any treatment for it.
Four adjectives that sum up Dylan: Relaxed. Adorable. Faithful. Dependable.
Dylans fosterers summary: “Dylan is a sweetheart. When he came to live with us he had quite a few health issues and was uncomfortable suffering with multiple infections and probably in pain. Despite that he took to life with us very easily.
He’s been back and forth to the vet like a yo-yo. First we sorted out his eye care. Next we tackled the teeth, they were so bad it required two separate operations. He still has a few teeth left, he manages soft food with no problems.
Next it was his ears, he had bad and stubborn infections in both ears. This was made worse by wart like growths narrowing the ear canals. He was very hard of hearing. After trying several treatments, the vet recommended that his ear canals should be removed. Again this was done in two separate operations. After he recovered from the first operation he was so much brighter, he’s still recovering from the second but making good progress. He’s never going to have another ear infection again thank goodness.
Dylan is like a different dog to the one that arrived 6 months ago. He was fortunate indeed to come into the care of The Oldies Club:
