Mac is a very smart 10 year old German Shorthaired Pointer boy who’s in the care of Wonky Pets Rescue. He’s in a foster home in Swadlincote, Derbyshire waiting for someone to offer him the perfect retirement home, preferably in the countryside!

Wonky Pets say, “Mac was rescued and rehomed by us 3 1/2 yrs ago. Sadly he has been returned to us after the owner felt she couldn’t give him the time and attention he deserves.

“Mac’s early years weren’t great. He was kept as a stud dog and spent many years being kept in a stable with no real quality of life. Due to his past he can be nervous of new people (especially men) and of new situations but once bonded with you, after a short period of time, he is your best friend! A loving, affectionate and sweet boy who loves having lots of fuss and attention.

“Mac has always been around horses and is pretty bombproof with equines. He is good with other dogs but doesn’t like them in his face or bouncing around him. He is best with calm, smaller females or could maybe live with another older pointer. He has been fine around cats and the other livestock in his foster home too.

“Mac is completely house trained. He’s a quiet non-destructive boy in the home. He travels brilliantly in the car and will happily hop straight into the back and lie down. He knows all his basic commands, walks well on the lead and his recall is brilliant. He will make such an amazing companion for the right person.”

Mac is looking for a home with someone around for a lot of the day who can give him plenty of lovely long, rural walks and plenty of “me” time. His ideal home would be somewhere with some land that he can run around in. He is a fit and active lad who should have many years of fun left.

“He has lived with older kids (10+) but isn’t too keen on little ones running around him. He is neutered, microchipped, flea and worm treated. He has a vaccination history but as a 10 year old dog we have chosen not to re-vaccinate him as he will have built a sufficient immunity at his age. He had his tailed docked a couple of years ago due to it splitting open but he now has a clean bill of health and will be rehomed with 5 weeks free pet insurance.”
