21/1/18 – We are delighted to hear that after being spotted in the Urgent section of the Oldies Club website, Sugar has now gone to her new home!
Sugar, as in as sweet as, is seeking a very special foster or permanent home. She arrived in rescue with RSPCA West Hatch with a large growth on her leg. Sadly, when the growth was removed, it was found to be malignant. Although Sugar is a happy girl who loves playing and being with people, her cancer will likely come back at some point. :(
Sugar is an adorable 8-year-old chocolate and white Patterdale terrier crossbreed. Before the growth had been removed, she was having a great time playing ball with the staff, always tiring them out long before she got tired herself. She has a real passion for the game!
When the growth was removed and the sad results came in, Sugar continued to chase her ball with renewed vigour! She has no idea what’s happening, she just knows it’s a lot easier to run when you don’t have a growth on your leg!
Staff at RSPCA want Sugar to enjoy what remains of her life to the full. Her foster or permanent family should be ready to provide her with lots of love and attention until the cancer starts affecting her health. They will need to be within reasonable proximity of the shelter so she can be regularly monitored by the vets there. She would also love for her new family to be around a lot to play with her and give her cuddles.
Sugar is not suffering in any way right now, but the cancer will most likely return. Her family will need to be loving and sensible, ready to make decisions in her best interest with the help of the RSPCA.
Sugar is a terrier and she lives up to the name! She is a playful, clever, busy little dog, so if her new family is used to the way terriers can be, that would be great!
Sweet Sugar is such a lovely girl and she deserves the very happiest of lives, being with people who love and chasing her ball, as long as she has the quality of life to do so. Her new family will be very special, and they will be getting a very special girl!
