10/8/19 – We are so pleased to hear that little Sam has found a new home!
——————–

Sam is a lovely little 11-year-old Jack Russell Terrier who has recently arrived at Ark Animal Rescue, on the Lincolnshire coast.

Sam’s owner is absolutely heartbroken about parting with him, but as Sam is now left alone all day while he’s at work, he just wants a better life for poor Sam. Sam used to spend all day with his owner’s wife, but she has very sadly passed away.

Sam will make a perfect little companion dog, but he does need a home with someone active enough to walk him plenty. He is a lively lad for his age and he still loves his walks and really enjoys playing. He is fine on the lead but is nervous in traffic. He doesn’t go off lead as he will run and his recall is selective. He loves human company and is eager to please, but he can be quite nervous and easily spooked. He hasn’t lived with children but has mixed with grandchildren and always been good.

Sam lived with a dog for a couple of years and was sociable, but now he would rather not meet other dogs and can be quite growly, although he will walk past them OK. He can’t live with cats and he doesn’t like pigeons. He also doesn’t like sudden noises and he will bark at the postman. He’s good with the vet, although he is unsure when in the waiting room. He travels well in the car and he is fine to be bathed and groomed.

Sam is good around food and he is housetrained – he will run to the door when he needs to go out. He can be left on his own for up to 5-6 hours, but he really does prefer to have company a lot of the time. In his previous home he slept in a box at the end of the bed, never downstairs, so he will want to be in the bedroom with you. He loves toys and he recognises the names of his favourites, bless him!

Sam is neutered and his vaccinations are up to date. When he was a young dog, Sam’s hind right kneecap kept dislocating. The vet scored the bone and it has given him no problems since. He ruptured the ligament on his hind left knee a couple of years ago but it healed with no ill-effects. He has a lump in his front leg but it’s been biopsied and is only a fatty lump and hasn’t grown bigger in the last four years. He has recently been vet-checked and is fit and well.

There’s plenty of life and fun in sweet little Sam yet. He just needs someone to offer him a wonderful home where he can go for lots of walks, play with his toys and spend time with his human(s).

Could you offer Sam his ideal new home?
