19/2/21 – We are so pleased to hear that Violet has found a new home!

Poor Violet is a deaf and near-blind Shar Pei who was found straying (probably abandoned) with an uncertain future ahead of her. Rovers Dog Rescue saw her in the pound when assessing another dog and hearts melted for this little lady who had been so let down. She was rehomed but it didn’t work out for her.

Now Violet is happily being cared for in a foster home in Poplar, London, and is estimated to be 5 years old, a little young for an oldie, but she needs and deserves a loving, forever home. After a course of antibiotics to help her infected skin, she needed top and bottom Entropian surgery (ingrowing eyelashes) in both eyes which is hoped will save any sight she has now, although much has been lost beyond repair due to her past neglect. She had lots of lumps and bumps removed, along with a large hernia repaired in her groin area.

Violet is looking for a quiet and understanding home. Her past is unknown and, due to her partial sight, she can react if spooked so an adult home is needed. She is being fostered as an only dog, but she maybe able to live with a calm canine subject to introduction as her meetings with dogs have been okay. It’s not known how she reacts to cats. She enjoys walks and is quite confident when out walking. She can be left reasonable periods alone. Violet is gradually getting used to travelling but was initially vocal.

Violet is spayed and, due to her eye surgery, she will be needing ongoing treatment for dry eye and is currently prescribed Optimmune.
