23/9/2022 Gorgeous Cassie is so happy to report that she has found her forever home.

Cassie is a gorgeous 10 year old Staffy X Labrador who is at Chilterns Dog Rescue Society in Tring, Hertfordshire.
Cassie has lived as a companion dog to a disabled lady who has now sadly passed away. The three children in the home had all grown up with Cassie but were unable to take her with them as they tried to pick up the pieces of their life. They will miss Cassie hugely and they describe her as ‘calm, caring and loyal.’
Cassie has lived a very sheltered life and has not had much regular contact with other dogs or people outside the family. She was understandably anxious and unsettled on arrival in rescue because everything was so new, but she is now enjoying getting out and about and meeting the staff and volunteers. The prospect of going for a walk still makes her quite excited and a bit barky, but she is learning to walk calmly on lead beside unfamiliar dogs and not pull.
Cassie enjoys her home comforts, especially a comfy bed in the front room and is happy to be taken for trips out in the car. She has lived with a cat but this has not been tested at the Rescue Centre.
CDRS would like Cassie’s new owner to:
• have experience with older dogs
• provide a secure garden and daily walks
• be at home for much of the day
• have no small children or other dogs
Cassie is inoculated and microchipped but not yet spayed as the date of her last season is unclear. She currently weighs a hefty 19kg but this is reducing slowly with the right diet and care. Due to her home circumstances, Cassie had not received much exercise; she was not at all fit and her hips and back legs were not very strong. While she can still be a bit stiff in the morning, Metacam has helped to get her much more active and mobile and she is now enjoying regular walks every day.
