Handsome Simba is a 10-year-old Labrador who came into the safe care of Starfish Dog Rescue after being unclaimed from a UK Pound. His owner knew he was in the pound but used the excuse they had only had him for 6 years after a family member dumped him on them so was not their dog anyway!

Simba is now being fostered in an adult home with other dogs in Gloucestershire. Typical Lab, he has too many good points to mention and it’s so sad that such a lovely dog ended up like this. When his foster carer came to get him, he just jumped in the car and was really happy to go off on an adventure.

Simba has a lovely, friendly temperament and appears to love everyone. He gets on well with the other dogs, a dog and a bitch, with no problems. He settles down at night, starting off in the bedroom and then wandering off to sleep downstairs. He does not appear to have any separation issues when left. He is house-trained, good off the lead and just generally a happy dog. Simba waits to be invited to get on furniture, bless him.

Simba loves his food probably a bit too much and typical Lab will bolt it down and you have to be careful with treats as he tends to snatch but that is being working on. He is better off-lead as it’s not sure how much time he spent on the lead and he tends to pull and, again, this is being worked on, but he is a strong boy.

Health-wise, he has not been looked after very well; his coat is very dull and he is a bit underweight, but this will be improved with good food. He may have been kept outside a lot of the time as he is quite stiff for a 10 year old dog. It’s probably the beginning of arthritis but this is being checked out with the Vets. He is on Yumove supplements and he is improving – it does not stop him enjoying his walks as you can see from the video link below and his stamina is being built up slowly. He loves toys.

Overall, he is a very loving dog who would do well in a home with other dogs or as an only dog. Although fine left for short periods, it would be nice to find him a home where someone is around pretty much as he just adores people. As an unclaimed stray, there is no previous history of him, so he cannot be rehomed with children unfortunately, though teenagers would be fine.

Simba is neutered, vaccinated, chipped and worm/flea treated. He is such a lovely lad who deserves a loving home and family as you can see from lots of videos of him on his page here.
