31/05/2022: Tom has been adopted! Hooray!

Tom is a 10-year-old Lurcher who is being rehomed via Freshfields in Liverpool as his owner’s declining health means they are struggling to walk him. Note that Tom is not at the kennels though!

Tom is a placid, sweet-natured dog who is loving and affectionate. He is perfect in the home and, being a lurcher he enjoys snoozing on the sofa. Tom is staying with his current owner while Freshfields match him to a new family and therefore he is not at the rescue. The photos here were taken when Tom was with Freshfields last summer, just before he was adopted by his current owner.

As above, Tom is an easy dog in the home, but he can be more difficult on walks as he is reactive towards other dogs. It is extremely important that his new owner is confident and capable of managing him. He has mixed well with some dogs in the past though and he does have potential to improve with ongoing training and socialisation.

Tom needs a home with someone around for most of the day as he can become upset when left alone and will howl. He is clean and non-destructive though. Due to his reactivity towards other dogs Freshfields are looking for a confident and experienced owner. He would be best in a quiet home environment where any children are aged 16+. Tom has lived with a cat previously, however Freshfields are unsure if he will accept a cat in his new home. He cannot live with other dogs.

Tom is in good health with no ongoing medical issues. Could you offer him his perfect new home?
