3/4/23 – Gorgeous Rufus has gone off to his new home. Have a lovely time there, Rufus!

Friendly Rufus is a 10 year old Staffy Cross who came into rescue as he was unsettled around the toddler in his home. He’s in an Oldies Club foster home in Welling, Kent, waiting for his forever people to find him.

Good boy in foster: Rufus quickly got used to his foster home and, given the space he needed to adapt, he was soon asking for fusses – grumbling and mumbling in gratitude – being generally entertaining.

“You know you want to tickle my tum”

Can be left when needed: Rufus is OK about being left on his own for a few hours when absolutely necessary but he would prefer a home where someone is around for most of the day. Being with his people makes him happy.

Good with dogs he meets: Rufus would rather be the only dog at home but he’s good with other dogs he meets on walks. He’s a sensible, steady boy.

OK with confident cats: Rufus isn’t used to living with cats but he’s made friends with one in foster. The cat is very confident and friendly, rubbing his head on Rufus. They sit nicely together in the garden and the cat wouldn’t even consider running from Rufus so it wouldn’t occur to Rufus to try to chase it. Things might be different with a flighty cat though.

No children at home: Rufus wasn’t happy living with a toddler in his previous home and he can be possessive about his food. He needs an adult-only retirement home where his naps will be undisturbed.

Loves his walks: Rufus loves to be out exploring and running about when the mood takes him. His recall is very good once he’s bonded with you. He enjoys being off-lead for snuffling and charging about, especially through hedges which tickle his back!

“Love to have a run around the bushes”

Great in the car: Rufus enjoys car rides as they mean going on new adventures with his humans to smell new smells. Hooray!

Favourite pastime: Charging about in a field!

“Shall we have a game?”

Dislikes: Rufus really hates going to the vets. He also doesn’t hold with people jogging. Despite enjoying a run around himself, he finds it highly suspicious in humans. He has to be put on the lead when he sees someone running because he will jolly well tell them to stop it!

Rufus’s ideal home: Rufus needs experienced owners who will spend plenty of time with him. His new people should enjoy walking as much as Rufus and take him for good walks where he can have a zoomies or just a snuffle as he sees fit. He needs a secure garden to potter about in too. He must be given the time and space to get used to things and be absolutely sure he can relax on your lap.

Health notes: Rufus is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been worm and flea treated. He has been vet-checked and has no current health issues.

More about Rufus: Rufus is a loyal boy who is very chatty, playful and caring. In the right home, Rufus will continue to flourish.
