19/6/23 – Merida has found a home!

This adorable, fluffy, gentle giant is called Merida and she came into the care of Battersea Dogs and Cats Home as a stray so, unfortunately, there is no history for her prior to her stay.

Merida is an 8 year old Caucasian Shepherd lady and she was heavily matted when she arrived which required her coat being cut right down. She was also slightly underweight and so has required quite a bit of TLC. Caucasian shepherds are ‘guarding breeds’ and any potential owners should be willing to do their breed research to understand their temperament and care requirements.

Merida has shown to be a lovely girl with a sensitive side. She has been quite depressed and reserved in her kennel but, with a little time and patience, she is slowly coming out of her shell. She loves a gentle fuss and will quite often nudge you with her big, fluffy paw when she wants more strokes.

Onsite, Merida has been worried of loud noises, so she is looking for a home in a quieter location, and with a garden of her own. She could live with teenagers but prefers to be the only pet in the home though she seems generally fine with other dogs.

Merida has elbow dermatitis and had a lump removed which was fully excised. She is spayed and has had a teeth clean.
