Gorgeous Willow is an 11 nearly 12 year old Springer Spaniel bitch in the care of Starfish Dog Rescue and is being fostered in Gloucestershire in adult family home with cats, dogs and visiting dogs. She came into rescue after being retired from being a gundog. She even worked the last season once a week as her owners did not realise how old she was.

Never having lived in a home before, Willow like many before her, is adapting quickly. She has discovered the delights of soft dog beds, constant on tap stroking, ignores the cat and the other dogs; she really just loves her humans.

There are times when Willow is unsure – one of those times is about getting in the van but, once helped in and settled, she travels beautifully. But adopters need to bear this in mind as she weighs 22 kilos.

Willow gets unsure about what you want to do sometimes; it can be something simple like walking through a door when she hits the floor with her big eyes looking at you so scared. It’s heart breaking. This is getting less and she actually adapted quickly. She is very at home on her bed these days in the lounge.

Out and about on her walks. Willow is a different dog. She is very happy, carefree and joyful running around sniffing, etc., keeping her eye on you all the time so you would never lose her. She may be hard of hearing but is not completely deaf. Willow walks beautifully on-lead and her walks are her biggest joy in life. You can watch lots of lovely videos of her here.

Willow is the most gentle of souls. She is such a good girl with a wonderful temperament with the other dogs and people, even the cat, and has never been heard to grumble. She sleeps on her bed at night without a sound and has been completely clean in the house. She has had these moment of happiness and, hopefully, they will come more and more seeing her relax and loving life. She would love a rural, adult home she would be fine with visiting children.

Willow is going to make a wonderful companion for someone. It has to be someone who still enjoy walking as she can still go for quite a few miles and it’s her greatest joy; just having access to a garden would not be enough. If she had to live with other dogs, it would have to be dogs who would not pester her to play, just dogs who are gentle, happy and just a companion is all she requires.

Willow has been health checked by the Vet and passed with flying colours. She has a cist-like lump on her back which has been there for years and the Vet was not worried and measured it for future monitoring. Her teeth are good and she has been spayed. Her vaccinations are ongoing and she is flea/worm treated.
