Sadly, Paul was found in a village in Romania and was a very bad case of a pack of dogs all with horrible injuries. It is thought the injuries were caused from being beaten as many had broken bones and fractures and Paul’s rear leg was so damaged he had to have an amputation.
Paul is now safely being looked after in a foster home in Norwich, Norfolk, provided by Safe Rescue and hopes to find the loving home he truly deserves.
Paul is 8 years old and is a medium-sized Chow Cross. It’s difficult to imagine what suffering he endured though, amazingly, he is now lazily quite receptive to humans whom he gets to know well. Other dogs in the rescued pack have hidden and flinched to the touch.
Paul is looking for an adult-only home and can live with or without other dogs and cats. He very much has the stubborn genes of a Chow and it’s generally a case of you have to go to him rather than he comes to you. If he doesn’t want to do something, he simply won’t do it. Fortunately, he can be picked up and moved accordingly to where you want him to be, but he’s generally not going willingly and not light to carry either.
Paul gets on well with the other dogs in his foster home but could also be the only dog in the home. He can play the “poor me, I only have three legs” card when it suits him but can move when he wants to and plays with the other dogs when the mood suits him. He is fine with the resident cat.
Paul will need a quiet and calm home environment. Also, he will need an adult home with someone who is amused by his willful ways and doesn’t expect too much cooperation.
Please note – Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used.
