Friendly and playful little Benson is a 10yr old Patterdale x terrier who came into Oldies Care when sadly his owner was no longer able to care for him, due to ill health. He is now in a foster home in Guiseley, West Yorkshire.

Summary: If you are active and are looking for a walking buddy, then Benson maybe your new best friend. He is extremely sprightly for his age, currently getting a couple of 1 – 1.5 mile walks a day, when he can also play ball. He would love a home with a little garden where someone is around to keep him company for most of the time, as he’s not a fan of being left alone. Getting on great with other dogs, Benson could live with doggy chums or equally happily on his own. He’s a very special little boy that has clearly endeared himself to his foster carers.

Settled well into foster home: Friendly Benson only took a few days to settle into foster care.

Prefers someone around at home: Benson currently doesn’t like being left alone for longer than 15 minutes, however with training, and once he is settled, this maybe able to be extended. With this in mind, Benson would not be suitable for anyone that goes out to work.

Could live with other dogs: Benson loves doggy company and has enjoyed meeting other dogs whilst in foster, so could live with another canine chum or could also be an only dog.

No cats please: Benson likes to chase cats, so a cat free home is needed.

Unknown what like with children: Benson has not had any close contact with children whilst in foster, so its not possible to say whether he is able to live with young people.

Sleeps well at night: Benson is a good boy at night. He currently has his bed downstairs, but will sneak up on your bed and sleep there with you happily until 0630 or 0700.

Brilliant on walks: Loving getting out for a good walk, Benson walks well on the lead and his recall has become very good whilst in foster. At the moment he is only let off his lead in open spaces where he can chase his ball, which he adores. Its hard to believe this little chap is at least 10yrs old ! He is currently walking up to 1.5 miles, twice a day and enjoys ball play too.

Likes the car: Benson gets into the car with no problem. He can get a bit excited and a little vocal.

Benson dislikes: Well, Benson is a very calm boy and there isn’t really anything that frightens him or he dislikes..what a little star !

Ideal Home: Benson would be suited to a retired person/couple who are active and are around the home most of the time. Benson loves company, be it with you at home, on a walk, or on a jolly excursion out in the car !

Favourite pastimes: Benson is such a joyful little boy. He absolutely loves playing with his tennis ball and other toys. Going on walks make him very happy, and he is so obedient…. who wouldnt be proud to have Benson by their side ! After a good walk, he likes nothing more than coming home for a good nap on someones knee.

Health notes: Benson is up to date with his flea and worming treatments. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Fosterers comments: Benson’s fosterer describes him as “friendly, lively, obedient and affectionate. They say he will make “the most wonderful companion to anyone that can give him lots of cuddles and a comfy knee to snuggle on”

If you would like to offer friendly Benson a permanent home, please read our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact an Oldies Club Rehoming Coordinator as follows:

Email: rehome@oldies.org.uk

Benson can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to his foster home the better – subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect him.

If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
