8/5/19 – We are delighted to hear that little Matty has a home offer plus several reserves! Wonderful news for this blind boy who was abandoned by the roadside.

Little Matty is an 8-year-old Bichon Frise who is very lucky to have found his way into the care of RSPCA Essex South, Southend & District Branch, in a foster home.

He has the sweetest of natures and yet he was found on the roadside, abandoned, in a terribly neglected state. His coat was matted so badly that it had to be completely clipped off. Abandonment and neglect is traumatic for any dog, but to add to Matty’s distress, this poor old boy is also completely blind. Doesn’t his story just break your heart?

But it’s time for a new chapter in Matty’s life now, and this plucky little chap is determined to make the most of the chance he has been given. In his foster home, Matty is proving to be a delightful fellow. Understandably, he was a bundle of nerves on arrival, but he is settling in beautifully with his fosterer’s care.

Matty has mapped out the home already and his favourite spots are on the sofa or the bed for a nice snuggle with a human, or a sunny spot in the garden for some sunbathing.

Matty spends a lot of time sleeping. He is an easy-going companion and will suit someone who is at home a lot. He is not particularly active but he does still enjoy a little potter for a short distance and he is also happy to supervise you while you do the gardening.

Matty is happy around friendly dogs and cats and he is almost housetrained, although you should expect accidents during the settling-in period. Aside from his blindness, his vet-check revealed no other health concerns.

Could you offer Matty a happy and peaceful retirement with plenty of companionship?
