Sweet Sam is an affectionate, 8 year old, golden Labrador Cross who is looking for a happy ending to his rather tragic tale. He is now safe in a foster home in Norwich, Norfolk, provided by Safe Rescue

Sam was rescued from Romania in 2016 and brought to the U.K. by another rescue. He has been in an adoptive home since that point but, sadly, he was never trained to walk on a lead and so never left the house and garden. Recently, his adopter had a fall and passed away at home and was only found four days later, Sam having been in the house with him alone for that time.

Now in his foster home, Sam absolutely loves his walks in local woods experiencing all the sights and smells he has missed out on all these years. Sam is a lovely and affectionate boy who mixes well with other dogs and has previously lived with a cat.

Sam adores the children in his foster home and would be happy to reside with children aged 8 years plus.

Sam will need to continue gaining experience out on walks and will need to get used to traffic and passing pedestrians, but he is surprisingly enthusiastic in his approach to learning and his tail doesn’t stop wagging when out.

Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full details of their rehoming policy are on Sam’s details on Safe Rescue’s Facebook
