‘OLD DOG OF THE WEEK’ FEATURES NEW PHOTOS AND A FRESH WRITE-UP FOR AN OVERLOOKED OLDIE THAT HAS BEEN ON OUR WEBSITE FOR A WHILE BUT IS STILL WAITING FOR A NEW HOME.
Please help Muffin by sharing this page!
Adorable Muffin is a small to medium-sized Crossbreed girl, believed to be about 10 years old. She’s in a foster home in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, through Safe Rescue.
Muffin spent half her life in a shelter in Romania, but you’d be amazed at what a sweet-natured dog she’s proving to be in foster care. She can live with dog-savvy children from age 10. She would like to live with another friendly dog and she’s good with cats too!
Muffin is a shy girl still but her confidence has improved hugely since being in foster. She follows her foster carer around so she’ll be a very good companion, always offering moral support with whatever you’re doing.
Safe Rescue say, “Muffin gets on well with other dogs, although she doesn’t actually interact a lot with the other dogs in her foster home. She is a sweet, quiet, shy but very friendly girl who is now asking for fuss and has just started to jump onto the sofa in order to sit on her foster mum’s lap.
“She very quickly learned how to walk on a lead and happily trots along at heel on a loose lead. She loves her walks and sniffs… She now gets excited when her lead appears and she eagerly gets into the car where she sits calmly.
“She is quite happy out and about on walks and isn’t worried about strangers or strange dogs or by passing traffic. She isn’t bothered by visitors to the house. She will usually greet them with a tail wag and a sniff and then take herself off to her safe place. She still has occasional ‘shelter flash backs’ when she decides that she wants to hide in a small enclosed space where she feels ‘safe’. These episodes are getting less often and she’s now spending most of her time in the company of her fosterers and the other dogs.
“She is clean in the house and very respectful. She will make a wonderful companion as long as she is allowed to gain confidence in her own time. She’s calm and quiet and just needs patience, love and time.”
Safe Rescue have a policy that all dogs adopted from them must wear a slip lead on walks. Please only enquire about Safe Rescue dogs if you are happy to always use a slip lead – extendable leads are not acceptable to Safe Rescue. All dogs have to be collected and a crate must be used. Full details of their rehoming policy are on Muffin’s details here.
