3/2/23 – The boys have found a home!
These beautiful boys are 12-year-old brothers, Smiley and Remus. They are currently in an emergency placement in domestic kennels in Worcestershire through Nirina Dog Rescue. With the longer, colder nights drawing in their need for a comfy home together is getting more and more urgent.
Circumstances where they are mean they have to be outside there. They are used to harsher conditions, having spent most of their lives in a shelter in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It’s high time they had central heating and soft furnishings for their retirement.
Smiley and Remus are good with other dogs and good with children too. Any children in the home would need to be older and considerate because they do need their nap times to be undisturbed. They’d better not live with cats. They do ignore cats but they are big boys who can be a bit goofy and a cat might find them alarming or get bumped into.
These boys absolutely love cuddles and fuss! They are very tactile and assume everyone is their friend. If one brother is getting a cuddle from you, the other will bop you with their paw to say it’s their turn now.
Smiley and Remus love being out in nature, savouring all the smells! They would like two 30 minute walks a day. They stay on the lead because their noses would take them who knows where otherwise. They totally get absorbed when exploring the great outdoors and don’t pay attention to what their human’s doing. It’s all so much fun!
Their carer says, “The boys are too interested in sniffing to be bothered by people or other dogs on walks but they do love a good cuddle from humans. Their ideal home would be together with an active couple who could take them on lots of interesting walks. They don’t appear to be scared of anything including fireworks and thunder.
“Everything is exciting for them and I can imagine them calming down once they are settled and in a routine. They are gentle boys who enjoy a slow stroll with lots of areas to sniff. They love having a fuss and then a good long snooze. They have mastered toilet training and know the routine to go outside for the toilet. These two boys are lovely old men who would love a home of their own to enjoy some home comforts in a warm home.”
Smiley and Remus are both neutered and healthy. They can be left for a few hours, once they’ve settled in. They’re still quite new to travelling in the car but tend to take it in their lollopy stride. Now these lovely boys just need a home and people to call their own!
