Mayhew Animal Home in London present to you the stunningly gorgeous River! She’s a 7-year-old Husky X Malamute who finds herself looking for a forever home as her previous owner became too unwell to look after her.
River wants to be an only pet at home but she could live with dog savvy teenagers. She likes having someone around most of the time but time spent on her own can be built up gradually to a couple of hours once she’s settled in.
River is affectionate with those she knows and trust but is shy of strangers. She finds it worrying if people she doesn’t know get touchy-feely so her owners need to avoid this happening so she feels relaxed. She’s so beautiful that people want to stroke her but she’d rather they admire her from a safe distance.
With other dogs, she’s generally sociable but can be a bit too excitable for some other dogs’ taste. At 32kg and with those piercing blue eyes, you can see why some dogs find her a bit alarming, even though she’s usually quite respectful. She does like to play with her dog friends but can be a bit bouncy. She needs to stay on a long line in case her excitability gets too much. She is active and needs 1-2 hours exercise a day.
In the home she’s clean and well behaved. She can be vocal at home and in the car, out of excitement rather than noting an objection. She’s a very intelligent girl who needs stimulating games and enjoys training sessions. She wants a secure garden to patrol and a comfy sofa or bed selection to snooze in.
River is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and flea/worm treated. She’s in good health and good spirits. As with all Mayhew dogs, they offer 3 free sessions with their behaviourist to help get settled. An owner with experience of the breed type would be preferred.
