11/10/2010 Sadly, poor Blaze’s condition worstened, and despite all the efforts of Boxer Welfare Scotland, he had to be put to sleep today. Sleep well Blaze.

October 2010: The lovely Cocoa has very sadly passed away. Oldies Club is very grateful to the love and care given to Cocoa by his wonderful foster home and our thoughts are with them at this very sad time.

Pepsi (Ark, Lincolnshire coast)
13/11/10 Sad news about Pepsi — She had to be put to sleep, on the vet’s advice. Following tests and several different treatments, all to no avail, her digestive problems have got the better of her. She had chronic diarrhoea and was passing blood, losing weight and was anaemic. The vet had run out of options for her. Rest in peace Pepsi.

Beautiful Beethoven only had a few months in his perfect forever home but he managed to have a wonderful time and cram in loads of love and happiness.

Smiling Sal (Oldies Club Sponsor Dog)
Sal came into Oldies Club care as an emergency case at the grand old age of 18. She is a beautiful lurcher girl whose owner was sadly unable to continue to care for her, and was within a few hours of being put to sleep when an Oldies Club volunteer stepped in.

Penny (Many Tears Animal Rescue, fostered Brean, Somerset)
3/10/2011 Many Tears have passed on the sad news that Penny had to be put to sleep due to cancer. She had remained in the care of her fosterer and was loved and well cared for to the end. Sleep tight Penny :(

Wag (Oldies Club, fostered Hertfordshire)
18/9/10 We are very sad to report that Wag suddenly became very ill and after having tests and a scan was found to have an enlarged liver, a mass in his stomach, and a problem with one of his kidneys. The vet advised that there was no hope of improvement and as Wag was not at all well, he sadly had to be put to sleep. Rest in peace little Wag.

Peggy – originally Mattie Staffiegirl (Oldies Club)
Peggy had a wonderful year with her new owners and was able to forget the awful life she must have had before. Sadly though, her heart gave up and she fell asleep in her own home with her loving owners beside her.

Alfie (Lizzie’s Barn Animal Sanctuary, South Wales)
20/6/10 – After the good news of Alfie finding a new home, we have some very sad news. Yesterday afternoon, Alfie was out pottering in the sunshine in the sanctuary garden when he suddenly collapsed and died. Fionna was with him and couldn’t do anything to save him. They suspect the poor little man had a massive heart attack. The Sanctuary people are absolutely devastated, as are the wonderful family who were due to be homechecked for him today and hoping to bring him home next weekend. Sleep well, little one.

Billy Boy Champion Snoozer (Oldies Club, fostered in Watford, Herts.)
Update 4/08/2010 – we are sorry to announce that Billy collapsed. The vet diagnosed a brain tumour, and he was allowed to slip away gently. All thanks to his foster carers for giving him the best of care at the end of his life.

Malibu (Manchester Dogs’ Home)
6.6.10 We’ve just received some very sad news from Manchester Dogs’ Home. Malibu has had to be pts today – her back legs gave way and she was unable to stand.

Jake (German Shepherd Rescue South, kennelled Middlesex)
1/6/10 Very sad news about old Jake. German Shepherd Rescue South has had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go. He was very unwell: he was collapsed, gums white, and the vet advised that he was shutting down and the kindest thing to do was to have him pts. Sleep tight handsome boy. :(

Ruby (Three Counties Dog Rescue, Lincolnshire)
21/10/10 Very sad news: Ruby died at the kennels late afternoon 18 October 2010. She is thought to have had a heart attack. Ruby will be sadly missed.

Ben (Linton Boarding Kennels, Ceredigion, Wales)
18/10/2011 Sad news – poor Ben was found to have bone cancer and the rescue decided it was kinder to let him go. Ben never found his forever home, but had some happy months and enjoyed his regular walks with volunteer dog walkers. Run free Ben :(
